English Studies (Foundation – Year 2)

The English curriculum is built around the three interrelated strands of language, literature and literacy..
Together, the strands focus on developing students’ knowledge, understanding and skills in listening, reading, viewing, speaking, writing and creating.

In Foundation to Year 2, we strive to develop these English skills in exciting, and creative ways that will instill a passion for learning in the students.

Our English sessions aim to engage students with hands on learning, expanding their curiosity and vocabulary. Guided tasks, group activities and individual learning tasks further consolidate their knowledge.

At Al Iman College, we use the teaching tool THRASS to support our students in developing their skills in Handwriting, Reading and Spelling Strategies. Paired with SMART Spelling, the students are actively learning to identify individual sounds and consider suitable spelling choices to improve their literacy skills.
